You will no doubt be wondering ‘will I get a good deal if I sell my car to Wewantanycar?’
The company certainly talks a good game, promising to pay the “best price” price for your old motor and, what’s more, they’ll even collect it from you free of charge (get a quote for your car here).
That sounds great, but is Wewantanycar really the best place to sell your car online?
After all, their competitors all make similarly impressive claims about offering a great price while keeping the process incredibly simple.
And many of them are completely fee-free, whereas Wewantanycar recently announced a HUGE hike to its admin charge (more on that in the ‘Wewantanycar fees’ section below).
In this independent Wewantanycar review, we’ll run through everything you need to know about selling your car, including how the valuation process works and how to get the best price from Wewantanycar.
But the bottom line is this: no car-buying site will pay the best price for every car.
We’ll get into it in more detail in the ‘Wewanyanycar competitors’ section lower down in this guide but, basically, you need to get quotes from a few of the other major car-buying sites and proceed from there.
It genuinely only takes a couple of minutes to get a quote from each, and it could mean land you hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds more for your motor.
Sell my car to Wewantanycar: how the sale process works
The first thing you’ll need to do is use the online valuation tool from Wewantanycar to get a quote for your car.
Make sure you have your reg number and mileage to hand as you’ll need it here.
You’ll then be asked to provide some personal information in order to see your Wewantyancar valuation, including your name, email address, and phone number.
You won’t be allowed to see your valuation without filling in these fields.
Of course, if you’re still in the early stages of your research and just want to see your quote to get an idea of how Wewantanycar’s valuation compares to quotes you’ve received from competitors – getting numerous offers is something we at Sell My Car Guide always recommend doing – then you don’t have to enter accurate contact information.
Simply enter any old details that meet requirements and you’ll be able to see your online valuation.
Then, if once you’ve done your research it turns out Wewantanycar is the best place to sell your car, you can go in and enter the correct details the second time round.
After providing your (correct) details you’ll be contacted by Wewantanycar and asked to set up an appointment to inspect your car, which can be done at your home or any destination of your choosing.
Once they’ve assessed your vehicle they’ll make you an offer.
If you accept, Wewantanycar says it will complete the sale and you’ll receive the money for your car “instantly via bank transfer.”
Someone from the company will then arrange to collect your car within the week, but you thankfully don’t have to be around for that.
Will I get the quoted price if I sell my car to Wewantanycar?
Perhaps the biggest worry motorists have when selling to any car-buying site is that, after being tempted by a decent initial quote, they are offered a drastically reduced price right at the end.
So you’ll no doubt want some assurance that the initial valuation you get from Wewantanycar will be accurate and close to the final offer should you sell to them.
So what do they have to say about your online valuation?
“As long as you give us an accurate description of your car, we can offer the same price we quote online.”
That’s good to know, but it’s important to remember that at this stage the only information you’ve given them is your reg and your mileage, so they are making a load of assumptions about the condition of your car.
In a nutshell, they’re assuming your car is in near-perfect nick.
This means your Wewantanycar valuation will only be accurate if your car has no issues.
And it’s worth stressing it’s not just big things like bodywork damage that could affect your final offer – even the smallest issue identified during the inspection could see your price knocked down.
As Wewantanycar explains on their site: “A final offer will be calculated and offered to you based on the vehicle condition, mileage, paperwork and current market prices.”
How can I get the best price when I sell my car to Wewantanycar?
If you don’t have to sell urgently, then the first thing you should consider is waiting until demand for your car is higher as this would obviously fetch you a higher price when selling to Wewantanycar.
Typically, demand for used cars is higher at the start of the year – due to New Year demand and the number plate launch in March – and in October, when reg plates change again.
There will also peaks in demand for specific car types at other times of year – convertibles are usually more popular in the warmer months, for example – but generally speaking, you can expect a slightly higher price selling during the peak times mentioned above.
There is, however, one exception to this rule: if your car is about to turn three or, especially, five years old, consider fast-tracking your sale as it will instantly lose value once it drops into a new age bracket.

As we mentioned earlier, any issues or imperfections will lead to you receiving a lower final price for your car.
There are some things, like mileage, that you can’t do anything about, but there are a lot of things that are worth sorting beforehand.

Clean the car – inside and out
“First impressions count, so give your car a thorough clean inside and out or pay for a professional valet instead,” says Wewantanycar.
Fix any obvious damage
You don’t want to be spending hours – and hundreds of pounds – on your car, but if there are cheap and easy fixes you can do, they are definitely worth doing.
If you aren’t a dab hand with the touch-up paint, consider paying a professional to sort any chips and scratches.
“Small windscreen chips, for example, can usually be repaired under your car insurance at no additional cost, and with no effect on your no-claims discount,” Wewantanycar adds.
“It also might be worth getting any minor repairs, such as dents, done, as this will help you achieve the best price possible.”
Keep on top of maintenance
As Wewantanycar points out: “You can command a higher sale price the longer the length of MOT on the vehicle.”
“It is certainly worth considering putting the vehicle through a test to ensure you can sell for the best possible price.
If you’ve taken the time to maintain a full-service history, this will also help you get a final price that’s close to your online valuation.
Make sure you have all documents and extras
If you want to secure the best possible price when selling to Wewantanycar, we’d add a fourth tip to the list, which is making sure you have everything you’ll need to hand.
Do you have all your documents available for the inspection? Make sure you have the logbook, service history, MOT certificate… any and every form you can dig out relating to your car.
Do you have all the extras that came with the car? Does the second key work or does it need a new battery?
Try and give the inspector as few reasons as possible to knock down the final price you’ll be offered.
Wewantanycar fees: how much will I have to pay?
While some car-buying services are free, you’ll most likely have to pay Wewantanycar an administration charge if you sell to them, which will be automatically deducted from your final sale price.
Previously, the company charged between £58 and £78 depending on the quoted value of your car.
However, the company recently decided to roll out a blanket admin fee of £125, which is a pretty hefty increase – and will have a huge impact if you’re selling an especially cheap car.
So it’s important you factor this into any your decision on whether to sell to Wewantanycar.
Remember, the likes of Motorway and Arnold Clark charge no fees, so if you’ve gone through the inspection process with one of them as well and received a similar quote, then you may be better off going the fee-free route.
Wewantanycar competitors: who will pay the best price for my car?
It’s worth bearing in mind that, as with any car-buying site, Wewantanycar will only buy your car if it thinks it can sell it on for a profit to someone else.
You’re effectively paying a premium for the simplicity of having someone take your car off your hands, with (almost) no questions asked.
So if you really want to get the absolute best price when selling your car, you are going to need to cut out the middle man and sell it directly to another person.

One of the great things about selling your car to Wewantanycar is that you don’t have to drive to an inspection centre (as you do with the likes of Webuyanycar and Arnold Clark).
Instead, Wewantanycar will arrange to collect your car from your home – after you’ve been paid! – and you don’t even have to be there at the time.

If you’re still unsure whether to sell your car through Wewantanycar, you could look for assurance from other customers who have already done so.
A good place to look is Trustpilot, an independent review site that lets customers share their experiences for others to learn from.
At the time of publishing, Wewantanycar have a Trustpilot rating of 3.8 stars out of five based on more than 4,400 reviews.
While this is by no means bad – anything ranked between 3.8 stars is classified as ‘great’ by Trustpilot – it’s worth noting that this is notably lower than the other car-buying sites we’ve reviewed, which generally have an ‘excellent’ rating (anything above 4.3 stars).
Should I sell my car to Wewantanycar? Our verdict
What we like about Wewantanycar is the speed – you could potentially sell in one day.
They also make a big deal about wanting any car.
So if your car has no MOT, no road tax, or even has outstanding finance, then Wewantanycar will still make you an offer (as long as your car is roadworthy).
They do also offer to match any price offered by a rival site, which could potentially be useful.
If, for example, after shopping around you find the best price was one offered by a car-buying site that requires you to head to one of their branches, you could instead go through Wewantanycar and have them collect it from home.
However, it’s worth remembering that Wewantanycar will take a cut of that offer in fees, so be sure to factor these in when working out who will leave you with the most money in your pocket.
